Corporate Responsibility
Pro-Tot Oy’s corporate social responsibility
We are committed to responsible business practices across all our areas of operation. Our aim is to promote sustainable development and respond to today’s challenges through innovative and ethical practices.
OBJECTIVES
The UN Sustainable Development Goals at Pro-Tot Oy:

3. Health and wellbeing
We place the safety and wellbeing of our staff at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to create a working environment where everyone can feel both mentally and physically safe and looked after. To achieve this, we have introduced specific practices and metrics that guide our day-to-day work towards an even safer workplace.
The TRIF indicator and monitoring of occupational safety
The TRIF (Total Recordable Incident Frequency) metric we have adopted is a key tool for monitoring and improving health and safety at work. We use this metric to analyse accident rates and take measures to prevent them. We are proud to report that in 2023 we achieved zero work-related accidents resulting in sick leave.
Promoting safety in our services
We do not focus solely on our own working environment; we also strive to promote safety through the services we provide. For example, equipment safety is one way in which we can help our customers improve safety and wellbeing at their facilities.

4. Good education
We are committed to strengthening our employees’ technical skills by offering a wide range of training opportunities. Our collaboration with various educational institutions supports the development of both students and current employees into experts in our field.
Skills development and career paths at Pro-Tot Oy:
A wide range of pathways into working life
We set no limits on recruiting future talent. Your CV doesn’t define you at Pro-Tot; we value your attitude and your willingness to learn. We offer young people and career changers the opportunity to develop into professionals within our supportive and encouraging culture. We engage in active dialogue with educational institutions and visit schools to give talks, so that together we can tailor the curriculum to meet the real needs of the workplace.
In-house and external training courses
We develop our staff’s skills by regularly organising both in-house and external training courses, based on the training needs data we have collected. Department-specific and group-specific training courses form part of our continuous development and are organised 5–10 times a year. We source external training from our trusted partners, such as XAMK, EDUtech, Esedu and Innotiimi, to meet the specific needs of our teams.
Close cooperation with educational institutions
Our collaboration with various educational institutions is the cornerstone of Pro-Tot’s professional development. We are actively involved in curriculum development, offering apprenticeship placements, work experience opportunities and opportunities to undertake final-year projects. We aim to act as a bridge between educational institutions and the world of work, with the goal of ensuring that vocational education meets the demands of today’s and tomorrow’s labour market.

7. Affordable and clean
We actively strive to promote sustainable development and responsibility in all our operations. This is particularly evident in our commitment to using affordable and clean energy, as well as in our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our operations. Energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy are key factors in our objectives.
Integrating renewable energy into our operations:
Lighting and heating
We have introduced green energy solutions at our premises, including energy-efficient LED lighting and heating systems powered by renewable energy sources. This not only reduces our energy consumption but also lowers our carbon footprint.
Mobility solutions
We are committed to the use of renewable energy and hybrid cars, supporting environmentally friendly travel on our construction sites. We encourage our employees to carpool to reduce the need for private car use, and we offer a cycling benefit for commuting by bike. Our company does not use air travel, which supports sustainable transport.

9. Sustainable industry, innovation and infrastructure
We focus on achieving sustainable development goals in industry by utilising innovative and efficient solutions. Sustainability, as we define it, means continuous improvement, streamlining processes and making optimal use of resources. Our maintenance services, in particular, provide ongoing support for sustainable development. We have transitioned to a paperless office, which is part of our wider commitment to environmentally friendly practices.
Recycling in production and at our sites
Improving recycling across all our operations supports our goal of reducing emissions and improving the efficiency of our industrial operations. We actively strive to reduce waste volumes and utilise recyclable materials in both our production and our office premises. This includes the careful use of both raw materials and supplies, the sorting and recycling of waste, and prioritising recycled materials in our procurement. Furthermore, we are constantly developing new ways to improve material efficiency and promote the circular economy in our business operations.
Integrating sustainable development into business operations
For us, sustainability is not a separate project, but is integrated into everything we do. We strive for continuous improvement and innovation so that we can offer our customers environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions. This commitment to sustainable development is at the heart of what we do, and it guides our day-to-day operations towards an even more sustainable and responsible industry.

17. Cooperation and partnership
We believe that responsible business is built on cooperation, compliance with international and national laws and regulations, respect for human rights, and environmental responsibility. This commitment forms the cornerstone of our operations and guides all the partnerships we build.
Sustainability: a shared journey
At Pro-Tot Oy, we believe that corporate responsibility is a shared journey towards a sustainable future. We lead by example in our industry, promoting sustainable development and innovation in everything we do. We encourage our partners, suppliers and customers to join us on this journey to achieve our shared goal.
Principles of cooperation and partnerships
In our collaborations and partnerships, we emphasise the importance of the principles of sustainable development. We require all our suppliers and partners to comply with national and international laws and regulations, including respect for human rights and environmental responsibility. This not only strengthens the ethical foundation of our business, but also contributes to broader social and environmental objectives.
Working together towards sustainable development
We are actively involved in collaborative projects that promote local and regional development, support innovation and strengthen cooperation between communities in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
